MATT Spies Hecker Permasolid HS Speed Clear Coat 8185

⭐ Professional Painter Tip (for pure Matt Finish)

Many painters using Spies Hecker Permasolid HS Speed Clear Coat 8185 do this:

• Coat 1: normal mix (no thinner)

• Coat 2: add 3–5% thinner

This gives the final coat more flow, eliminating minor orange peel.

 

🔧 Mixing Ratio (Standard System)

Using:

• Spies Hecker Permasolid VHS Hardener 3225

• Spies Hecker Permacron Reducer 3380

Standard Mix

• 3 parts – Clear 8185

• 1 part – Hardener 3225

• 0–5% – Reducer 3380 (optional)

⚠️ Unlike 8055, 8085 usually needs little or no thinner because it is already optimized for fast flow.

Example

Clear	Hardener	Thinner
300 ml	100 ml	0–15 ml

 

🎨 Application Method

8085 is usually applied in 1.5 coats.

Standard Method

1️⃣ 1 medium coat
2️⃣ Short flash
3️⃣ 1 full wet coat

Because it cures fast, avoid heavy coats.

 

🎯 How to Avoid Orange Peel With 8085

Because it is a speed clear, most peel problems come from spraying too dry.

Key adjustments

1️⃣ Correct wet coat

• The second coat must be wet enough to flow.

2️⃣ Slight thinner if needed

• If texture appears → add 5% of Spies Hecker Permacron Reducer 3380.

3️⃣ Correct gun distance

• 14–16 cm from panel

4️⃣ Slow down your passes

• About 40 cm/sec

5️⃣ Maintain good overlap

• 70–75% overlap
